Stop somewhere safe first
Driving on a flat destroys the tire and can damage the wheel. Pull as far off the road as you can, onto level ground if possible, switch on your hazards and stay clear of traffic while you wait. Never change a wheel on the traffic side of a highway.
Spare swap or plug?
If your spare is inflated and in good shape, we fit it, torque the wheel nuts and check the pressure. A small puncture in the tread can often be plugged as a temporary fix to get you to a shop.
Sidewall damage, large cuts and tires that were driven flat cannot be repaired safely, so we fit the spare or arrange a tow instead.
Locking wheel nuts
Many cars have one locking nut per wheel. The key is usually in the glovebox, under the trunk floor or with the spare. Having it ready saves time; if it is missing, tell dispatch.

Questions
How far can I drive on a space-saver spare?
Space-saver spares are for short distances at reduced speed. Check the sidewall and your owner's manual for the exact limits, and repair or replace the main tire as soon as you can.
Can you fix a run-flat tire?
Run-flats let you drive a limited distance after a puncture, but most manufacturers advise replacing them rather than repairing them. We can tow you to a shop that stocks the right tire.
I don't have a spare. What now?
Then we tow the vehicle to the nearest tire shop or to a destination you choose. Dispatch quotes it on the call.
