Running on empty
If the engine sputtered out and the gauge reads empty, you do not need a tow, you need fuel. Tell dispatch whether the vehicle takes gas or diesel and roughly where you are, and we bring enough to reach the nearest station safely.
Diesel runs dry differently
Many diesel engines need the fuel system primed after running completely dry before they will restart. Tell dispatch it is a diesel so the tech comes prepared; if it still will not start after refueling, we can tow it.
While you wait
- If the vehicle stopped in a live lane, get out and move well away from traffic
- Switch on your hazard lights
- Do not walk along a highway shoulder to reach a station

Questions
How much fuel do you bring?
Enough to get you to the nearest station, usually a couple of gallons. Fill up there; we are the bridge, not the tank.
Is the fuel included in the price?
Dispatch quotes the delivery and the fuel together on the call, so you know the full amount before we roll.
What if I put the wrong fuel in?
Do not start the engine. A misfueled vehicle usually needs the tank drained, which is shop work, and we can tow it there.
